Who We Are:

Victoriancottageplans.com is a web site specializing in the sale of historic, authentically detailed home building plans created by an engineering-construction company who has specialized in the replication of traditional homes for over three decades.   The organization is comprised of Garant Homes Corporation as builder, and Garant Engineering, Inc. as designer. The combined companies have attempted for the last 35 years to revive classical building techniques that have largely been lost due to mechanization and the tendency to teach only modernism in today's architectural universities and colleges.  After many years of research, of both the classical design form and construction techniques required to build such styles, the organizations have begun to offer their building plans to the general public. 

In recreating these classic designs, victoriancottageplans.com goes far beyond the typical home plans normally found on the internet by including page upon page. detail after detail that allow the modern owner/builder the chance to create a home with all the richness and depth of detail one sees in original period homes.  The type of detail that is almost entirely lacking in modern architectural design and construction technique.

Notable to anyone building a new home, all of the details contained in these homes utilize modern building techniques, off the shelf materials, when possible and efficient production techniques to produce these authentic looking details at a surprisingly low cost.  To aid the purchaser in the control of costs even further, Garant Homes has created extensive contractor style estimates of each home that empower the inexperienced owner/builder to negotiate, and specify job requirements at a professional level to the required cast of contractors, sub-contractors and suppliers necessary to build a modern home.

Robert R. Garant, the founder of the company, is not only the Lead Designer but is also a Master Builder and Expert Carpenter.  Mr. Garant is a Graduate of the University of Michigan holding a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering, with a specialization of Structural Engineering.  He has worked throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. The historic look of our homes and the emphasis on the traditional style has evolved from his extensive European and Caribbean travels and his research of classical architecture and traditional building techniques.
